Information which is independent, accurate and timely is a key
resource for development. Information needs to be locally generated
in order to enable countries and communities to shape and communicate
their own development agendas through informed public debate. Amplifying
the voices of the poor and marginalized needs to be a particular
focus.
We try to help reporters (both adult and child reporters) and people
affected by certain development issues with factual, appropriate
and timely information, in particular compiled in the Caribbean
and Central America region and in Nigeria. The following resources
are available on the site:
- Journalist guides which assist reporters with tips and guidelines,
methodologies, basic information, sources and resources (within
the region and on the Internet), glossaries of technical terms,
etc. on one of the themes Panos works on. Published till now:
- Journalists and STI/AIDS (in French only), March 2002.
- Covering Diversity (in English only), 2001.
- Oral Testimony Interview Techniques (in French and English),
January 2000.
- Theme pages which point to all news, resources and productions
available across our site and sites of partner organizations,
on a specific theme. One section is available on HIV/AIDS. In
development are pages on child rights; environment; freedom of
the press; and gender.
- Photo galleries. There are hundreds of photos available on
our site, spread out over all sections. We have made a common
entry point available.
- . Links to the sites of partner organizations (including some
held on our site) and other web sites of interest.
- Archives. Information and media productions older than 3 years
is generally held here. Currently in our archive section:
- Caravane of Artists and Youth Against HIV/AIDS, a national
campaign in Haiti in the year 2000. This sub-site includes
photos, articles, briefings, etc. (English and French)
- Nigeria briefings (1998-2000). Media briefings in support
of Panos' Nigeria programme (English)
- Cronica mensual (upto 1999). Archive of monthly feature
articles and reports (in Spanish).

Institute conducted in the Caribbean and Central America (1989
- 1997). An analysis of programme, participation, results
