Dear Ms. Maluwa,

I am an eight years old boy living with HIV. I would like to bring to your attention some of the things that are happening to people living with HIV. There is a great deal of discrimination taking place. I am even afraid to write you this note out of fear that someone will recognise me.

As a child living with HIV, I have had the opportunity to be living with a very good family that loves me. I attend a private school, but of course no one knows anything about me. This concerns me a lot as there is so much I could teach the students at my school.

My other concern is that people living with HIV are having difficulties getting some medication.

I would like to find out what is UNAIDS doing to make sure that Jamaica keeps its promise to make sure people living with HIV are not discriminated against? Also, what can UNAIDS do to make sure that people get all the medication they need and not just the ARVs?

I am yours sincerely,

Patricia Watson
