The Association of Haitian Photographers (APH) was
established on 25 June 1990 by group of photographers who
wanted to improve photography in Haiti. Its mission is to
give photography its proper place in Haitian society. APH
affiliated itself to the Haitian Federation of Press Workers
(FHTP), an organization which in turn is affiliated to the
Haitian Labour Confederation (CTH). Currently APH has 86 members.
APH has beneficial relations for its members with
a number of film processing and printing facilities. During
1993-1997, the training centre of APH organized workshops
for its members. This became impossible in subsequent years,
due to lack of meeting space.
